BMW 320D EFFICIENT DYNAMICS EDITION
Awaited has arrived, version of the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics goes on sale this month (March 2010). It’s as per the regular 320d, unless you’re so into your diesel 3 Series that you can tell that this one rides 15mm lower than the 320d SE. It has low rolling resistance tyres too, contributing to a slightly lower drag coefficient, and the gear ratios are different.?
The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by 2.0-litre four-cylinder power unit with its all-aluminium crankcase, turbocharging and the latest generation of common-rail fuel injection featured with various power stages also in the BMW 316d, the BMW 318d and the BMW 320d. The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition develops maximum output of 120 kW/163 hp at an engine speed of 3,500-4,200 rpm and peak torque of 360 Newton-metres/265 lb-ft all the way from 1,750 to 3,000 rpm.
The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition saloon combines fuel consumption of just 4.1 litres diesel/100 kilometres (equal to 68.9 mpg imp) and a CO2 rating of 109 grams per kilometre in the EU test cycle with engine output of 120 kW/163 hp.
It takes less effort to move this 3-series through the air as the body has been lowered and new low drag wheels are fitted, bringing the drag coefficient down to 0.26. Parasitic losses are reduced through the use brake energy regeneration and electric power steering
BMW M3 DINAN S3-R
BMW, Dinan has put out their biggest-ever take on the BMW M3. The Dinanized bimmer is called the S3-R, and in place of the original 4.0 liter V8 is an engine that’s been bored and stroked to 4.6 liters. Up top “Carbon Fiber High Flow Intake and bored out High Flow Throttle Bodies”; down low Dinan fits a free-flowing exhaust system that also makes use of pieces labeled “HIGH FLOW”.
Appears sporty with Carbon Fiber Front Strut Braces and Racing Rear Toe Links” while riding on relatively plain 19-inch one-piece wheels. It makes a naturally-aspirated 527 horsepower and 407 lb-ft of twist, and Dinan claims that it can crack 200 mph or 322 km/h. Dinan S3-R M3 Available for E92, E90, E93 M3.
