The first photos of Citroen’s DS3 Concept that will be physically revealed at the Geneva Motor Show have been leaked into the internet before the French automaker had the chance to make an official announcement.
The DS3 that appears to be a MINI Cooper and Alfa Romeo MiTo rival,
previews a forthcoming production version which will be the first of a new series of premium cars that Citroen is planning to introduce in the near future. As its name suggests, the DS3 revives Citroen’s DS badge and it will be followed by a Golf -sized DS4 compact model and a C5-(mid)-sized DS5 luxury c
What you see here is more than just a styling exercise. According to early reports, the concept, which is officially called the DS3 Inside, is very close to the production version due to arrive in Europe as a 2010 model. With underpinnings pulled from the new C3, Citroen is likely to offer a range of gasoline and diesel engine ranging from 1.2- to 2.0-liters.
At 4.2 metres in length the C-Cactus would be too long to be a C2 replacement but it was exactly the same length as a C4. Incidentally the C4 is due for a replacement in 2010.
Hopefully more information will come to light at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Meanwhile a quick recap on the C-Cactus may be in order. The car shown in Frankfurt featured a 70hp (51kW) 1.4 HDi diesel-electric drivetrain.
