Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has launched its new Mitsubishi Lancer last night.Called as the Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0EX, this version has a more sophisticated and elegant image.Available in White Mica or Black Solid, the Lancer 2.0EX is priced at RM117,676 (excluding insurance in Peninsular Malaysia).
It is powered by the same powertrain which is the 4B11 2.0-litre DOHC MIVEC all-aluminium engine with 153 bhp and 199 Nm of torque.A 6-step CVT is used and while there is the option of manual selection.
Inside, there are no Nappa leather that can be found in the GT.The EX is now used the grey leather seats, which brightens up the cabin considerably.It is more focussing on comfort.The main piece of trim that spans the dashboard has wood grain imprints in a classy grey tone.A 2DIN recess is occupied by a LCD touchscreen panel. This panel not only provides interfacing with the 6-speaker audio system but also provides the display for the GPS route navigation system.iPod and AUX jacks are in the glovebox, while the USB jack joins two SD card slots (one for GPS) on the interface.
You also no need key to start your engine.It has no Start/Stop button, but need to twist a knob where the key hole normally is to start your engine.
Outside, at a glance, the Lancer 2.0EX looks like the other versions but when you look at the front longer, it is apparent that the grille styling is different.No more single chrome frame “jet fighter” grille like the GT.With the Lancer 2.0EX, the black portion is bumper-coloured so there is a separation.The rear end has a more discreet lip spoiler rather than the raised and aggressive type installed on the Lancer 2.0GT. 16-inch alloy wheels are wrapped with 205/60 Yokohama touring rubber.

The new Lancer EX will join the current Mitsubishi line-up consisting of the Lancer GT sedan, Grandis MPV, Triton pick-up truck, Pajero Sport GS 4×4 and Pajero Sport GL 4×2 SUV.
