NEW FORD ESCAPE EXPECTED TO SELL WELL
KUALA LUMPUR, — Sime Darby Auto ConneXion Sdn Bhd (Auto ConneXion), the sole distributor of Ford vehicles, expects a good take-up rate for the newly launched Ford Escape sport utility vehicle (SUV).
“We sold 50 units of the new Ford Escape and we are receiving another 50-60 units from the Philippines in July,” its managing director Rajan Thurairatnam told reporters after the launch of the new Ford Escape, here Wednesday.
The new Ford Escape 2.3 XLT comes with an array of design enhancements that create a contemporary new look to its unique combination of car-like ride and handling and real SUV capability.
It has been priced at RM134,837 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM138,337 in Sabah and Sarawak (excluding road tax, insurance and registration).
Rajan said Auto ConneXion will bring in another two Ford models this year. It launched the Focus sedan and hatchback in February and new Ranger 4X4 pick-up in April.
A wholly-owned unit of Sime Darby Motor Division, the company also manages the Land Rover and Alfa Romeo brands in Malaysia.
Currently, the Ford brand is the major contributor to Auto ConneXion’s turnover, accounting for 60 percent, while Land Rover and Alfa Romeo represent 30 percent and 10 percent respectively.
