Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd has officially launched the locally assembled Mazda3 to Malaysian consumer.Assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah, the price for this Mazda3 CKD slightly cheaper than the imported version.The expected price reduction comes to around RM11,000 per model, except for the 2.0-litre hatchback, which only enjoyed a RM5,000 reduction in price. Four variants of the Mazda3 CKD available – 1.6 sedan, 1.6 hatchback, 2.0 sedan, and 2.0 hatchback.
MAZDA 3 CKD & MAZDA 3 MPS IN MALAYSIA
Equipment levels are pretty much unchanged from the imported version but there is an extensive amount of kit thrown in. The list includes tilt & telescopic steering, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, dual airbags, immobilizer, side-mirror mounted indicators and a multi-info display. The 1.6 now gets front fog lights, which were deleted in the CBU cars, and also has its wheels upsized from 15″ to 16″.Standard upholstery is fabric (except for the 2-litre hatchback) but customers who want leather can order it at extra cost along with a touchscreen audio/GPS system.
Those of you insisting on getting fully-imported units of the Mazda3 can still do so as Bermaz has yet to deplete its stocks. Bermaz will continue selling these leftover CBU stocks of the Mazda3 at its previous prices.Four choices of colour are available for this year – Aluminium Metallic, Gunmetal Blue Mica, Black Mica and Arctic White.

MAZDA3 MPS
The high-performance Mazda3 MPS (Mazda Performance Series) imported from Japan also got its official launch today and priced at RM179,895.20.Offered only in hatchback bodystyle, the Mazda3 MPS differentiates itself from its conventional brethren with a bonnet scoop, re-profiled bumpers, side skirts, 18″ alloy wheels, bi-xenon head lights, LED taillights and a rear roof-mounted spoiler. Sporty touches continue inside with red stitching all over, red display graphics, and a LED turbo boost gauge.It also equipped with the leather/cloth-mix seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearknob, a six-CD in-dash and 10 speaker Bose audio system.
The Mazda3 MPS is powered by a turbocharged MZR 2.3 litre DISI block offering 256 hp at 5,500rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 3,000rpm, working with a six-speed manual gearbox and a torque-sensing limited-slip differential.In view of that increased power, Traction Control and Dynamic Stability Control are added to the MPS’ arsenal.
