The Honda Civic Type R is a monster in the track or circuit.Take an example the Malaysian market Civic Type R FD2r.With only a 225 bhp 2.0 naturally aspirated engine, the car is able to overtake a turbocharged Subaru Impreza at the corner. Like people say, power is nothing without control. To get the best control, you need a well balanced car and talking about overall balance, the type R comes in my mind as the perfectly balanced car in term of the engine and its chassis.And all of this can be found on the Civic Type R. What happen if Mugen get their hand dirty in the type R as well.
For those Honda fans, today we will bring you some initial details on the Mugen Honda Civic Type-R. But then, its not the same a the Type R found in Malaysia, since this monster is an European model. But it doesnt matter where, a Type R is still a Type R. Promising unlimited satisfaction in the track.
The Mugen Honda Civic Type-R is equipped with the 2.0-liter i-VTEC (the same engine found in malaysian market FD2R) producing 200HP to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.But there is a rumours of the Mugen Type R to receive the simillar upgrades to the Japanese market Civic Mugen RR sedan.If this is true, we can expect the engine to deliver up to 240 horsepower.Other ugrades includes a limited slip differential, chunkier tires, tweaked suspension and a high-performance brake system.
The aero parts include a massive rear-wing, side skirts, twin hood scoops, a new rear apron with an integrated diffuser and two Jumbo-size tail-pipes, a blacked out Mugen grille, new front bumper with an integrated lip spoiler and wider fenders housing side air-vents plus gunmetal gray multispoke alloy wheels.
To get a perfect track tuned car, dont expect to get comfort as well, Honda might eliminate certain comfort features in the interior in order to shave a few pounds.But dont worry, most probably, you’ll be seating in a comfy pair of body-hugging bucket seats from Recaro.
However we still dont have any official details yet.What we can say for certain is that the Mugen Civic Type R will arrive on European shores sometime at the end of summer.
