Whenever we think of the fastest car in the world the two name that would appear would be the Bugatti Veyron (253.4 MPH) and the SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo (255.83 MPH). If you think these car is fast enough, wait until you see the new Mosler MT900 GTR XX Twin Turbo Land Shark by Intense Automotive Design.
Nicknamed “The Land Shark”, this car weighs a full 250 kg (551 lbs) less than the already lightened GTR XX, coming in at 861 kg (1898 lbs) with its fuel tanks full. Yes, we said “tanks”, as in plural. This car runs on a multi-fuel system using petrol, methanol, hydrogen, and ethanol. Gocha claims that the use of multiple fuels means he was able to register his car as a “hybrid” in California, meaning he gets to take this monster into the often wide-open carpool lanes of Los Angeles!
The Mosler MT900 GTR XX is fitted with the Corvette -sourced twin turbo GM LS7 engine that outputs a mind-blowing 2,500 horsepower, thanks to the twin turbo fitted. The billet aluminum engine block and cylinder head has four injectors of varying sizes per cylinder, combined with racing fuel pumps capable of delivering six gallons (22.7 liters) per minute. Apparently, you can go really really fast in this car, just not for long. The engine also makes generous use of ceramic, titanium, and carbon to keep the weight down.
The normal MT900 GTR would reach 100 km/h from a standtill in 3.1 second but Gocha, the owner of Intense Automotive Design, claim that their “Land Shark” will do the same thing in only 2.5 seconds, 150 mph in 6.7 seconds, and 250 mph in 17.5 seconds.The car will take only 9 seconds in a quarter mile drag sprint and by the time it reaches the finishing line, the speedometer would reach 178mph. As fast as the acceleration, the braking power isas good. A sprint from zero to 150mph and back to a dead stop would only take 8.7 seconds.
The car’s aerodynamic body kit makes it possible for the car to achieve those mind boggling figures.As seen in these photos Gocha and co. have created a new front splitter, new dive planes, and a fully adjustable rear wing built from carbon fiber.Other upgrades includes the new air intakes and outlets on the sides, and new intakes on the roof and upper body.To get the best downforce they installed a full-length air ducting channel via the flat belly pan.
The Mosler MT900 GTR XX Twin Turbo Land Shark will make its official debut at the 2009 Bonneville Speed Week.Lets see how it goes then.
