TAN CHONG MOTOR WILL INCREASE PRODUCTION FROM JUNE ONWARD
KUALA LUMPUR, — Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd will increase vehicle production from June after having cutback output in the last six months.It has also cleared its inventory.
Executive director Datuk Dr. Ang Bon Beng said the company would increase production at its Serendah plant to 1,200 vehicles a month from the 700 units previously.
He also said that production at the Segambut plant would be increased to 1,500 units from 1,000 a month earlier.
Ang said the sales and marketing arm of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia would continue to receive orders despite the current economic climate.
“As our stocks have now been reduced to a comfortable level, it is time for us to start normal production to meet customer orders,” he told reporters after the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) here Wednesday.
He said the company had successfully sold 6,638 units in the first three months of this year, a six percent growth from 2008.
Ang also disclosed that the overall vehicle sales in the country for the second quarter would be slightly better and within the range of 120,000-130,000 units, from the 118,681 units recorded in the earlier quarter.
“In April, it has already reached 41,000 units with people being more confident now,” he said.
