SHELL TO HELP PEOPLE TO REDUCE FUEL CONSUMPTION
DRESDEN, May 11 — Royal Dutch Shell has reaffirmed its commitment to an international initiative to help drivers save on fuel despite fuel prices having dropped drastically from their highs about a year ago.
Through various fuel-saving advocates appointed as FuelSave Ambassadors from around the world, Shell is now challenging drivers to learn how to cut motoring costs and be rewarded for doing it, the company announced at the just concluded Shell Eco-Marathon at the EuroSpeedway in Lausitz near here.
“Malaysians can benefit a great deal from this scheme,” a Shell spokesman told Bernama.
According to Niel Golightly, Shell’s vice president of communications and sustainability, the announcement builds on the commitment Shell made in 2007 to help drivers save 10 per cent or more fuel.
Among the fuel save tips that Shell has been advocating to help motorists get the most out of every drop of fuel are driving smoothly, using higher gears, tuning and servicing the engine regularly, keeping tyres at the right pressure and removing excess weight.
Andrea Schutze, who is responsible for developing fuels for Shell, said mankind would surely invent more fuel efficient cars and fuels to power them, and “we will continue to be amongst the leaders in fuel innovation.”
“But we shouldn’t lose sight of the fuel millions of drivers put in their tanks today — and the way it’s used. Thinking about both will help us use fuel responsibly,” she said.

The is a great service to all the petrol heads on our road. The timely launching of this scheme is of essence here. On the other hand I think this is another great reverse psychology thing employed by them to market their Brand. The more service they did the more positive public acceptance the more petrol they sell..got it? Previously it was the green campaign but it never really got off ground.
