Saab had officially released their new 9-5 flagship sedan and for public viewing, the car will be later unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in mid September.Feature here is the photos of the new sedan and the details that had been released by Saab.
“This car is the start of a new era for our brand,” says Jan Åke Jonsson, Saab Automobile’s Managing Director. “We have created an advanced and very distinctive product by leveraging the power of our roots in key areas, such as progressive Scandinavian design, sporty driving and responsible performance. The new Saab 9-5 delivers in all these respects, as will every future product from Saab.”
The car has been designed with the inspiration of the classic Saab in the same time featuring design we can only find from the future.In fact the styling of the Saab is taken from their recent concept cars, such as the Aero X, which are inspired by Scandinavian design and Saab’s aircraft heritage.”
Inside, Saab owners will feel right at home with the traditional, driver-focused cockpit that features an aircraft-inspired head-up information display. The Swedish maker promises that the choice of materials, the fit and finish and the perceived quality of the controls all reflect the new 9-5’s premium character.
Launch engines are a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel with 118kW (160hp), a 2.0-litre petrol turbo making 162kW (220hp) and a 2.8-litre V8 petrol producing 221kW (300hp) and peak torque of 400Nm. Soon after the launch a 1.6-litre petrol turbo with 132kW (180hp) will be unveiled. At the same time a 2.0-litre BioPower E85 engine is to debut as well. Mated with all these engines are 6-speed transmissions.
