PROTON KEEN TO SUPPORT LOTUS F1 RACING
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 — National car manufacturer, Proton, are keen to organise support programmes together with Lotus F1 Racing, starting next season, to support the Malaysian Formula One outfit, Proton Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said today.
Syed Zainal said starting 2010, Proton hoped to organise a number of programmes that would involve all three Lotus F1 Racing drivers, Mohamed Fairuz Mohamed Fauzy, Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen.
“I hope after this Proton can initiate more programmes with Lotus F1 Racing in efforts to develop the country’s motorsport industry,” he told Bernama after receiving a delegation from the Lotus F1 Racing team to the Proton Excellence Centre here today.
He said as the national car manufacturer, it was Proton’s obligation to initiate programmes in support of the Malaysian F1 team that was set up recently.
“We also hope to boost our car sales through such programmes,” he said.
The names of the three Lotus F1 Racing drivers who would be heading to the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix in March, was announced yesterday.
