Lotus Europa S, a derivative of the hardcore Elise but with an opulent by Lotus standards interior, improved accessibility and a host of accessories and features not usually found in the light weight roadsters.The mid-engined two seat coupe sports a 2.0 L turbocharged GM Ecotec engine producing 147 kW (197 hp/203 PS) at 5400 rpm. The torquey 272 N·m (200 ft·lbf) engine allows the car to reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in around 5.6 seconds, and 100 mph (161 km/h) in around 13.8 seconds. Maximum speed is 143 mph (230 km/h).
It has the same wheelbase as the Vauxhall VX220, which is longer than that of the Elise.The Europa S is a light weight car of 995 kg (2194 lb) with a 147 kW (197 hp) 2.0 L engine. It uses Lotus designed monocoque structure of epoxy-bonded aluminium alloy extrusion incorporating integral steel roll over structure and lightweight steel rear subframe.Its body using lightweight composite hard top body panels with detachable front and rear clamshells.
From this angle the Europa clearly has a different look compared to the Exige coupe. Pop the hatch and there’s enough room in back to throw a few duffel bags in for the weekend.
The 17-inch wheels are unique to the Europa and feature 175/55 tires up front and 225/45 tires in back.
GM’s 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine provides the power. A six-speed manual transmission is the standard gearbox and there’s no limited-slip differential like in the Elise and Exige.
As with all Lotus cars, the Europa S also adopts a front anti-roll bar and fully independent sports suspension using unequal length or F1 type double wishbones and Bilstein mono-tube dampers with coaxial Eibach springs at each corner. Price From RM 300 000.
