What Japanese buyers will come to know as the RVR when the compact crossover goes on sale in its home market in February will be sold in Europe as the ASX. The digitally enhanced photos show only a few minor differences between the two models, the most important being the black finish on the ASX’s front and rear bumper inserts, grille and rocker panels as well as the addition of turning signals on the exterior mirrors.
The Outlander’s smaller brother will be offered in Europe with various powertrains including an all-new Euro 5-compliant 1.8L turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine with Stop & Go technology that’s linked to a six-speed manual transmission. The ASX will have its European premiere at the at the Geneva Salon in the beginning of March with sales set to follow from late Spring 2010.
The compact crossover in the forthcoming Mitsubishi Motor Show Geneva show and no go ASX called Outlander Sport as many of us thought. According to De Telegraaf is a very different name chosen because the car is positioned completely different than its bigger brother.
The Mitsubishi ASX experiences as in the introduction its debut at the Geneva Motor Show from 4 to March 14 next opens its doors to the public. In fact it concerns a European debut, as the crossover runs from February already RVR in Japan around. We, the European version in the spring expect to see.
The ASX is the European version of the Japanese market RVR. It is a 5-seat, compact crossover, about 4.3 meters long, and is slotted below the Outlander in the Mitsubishi lineup.
The ASX is smaller than the Outlander and it will arrive with various powertrains including an all-new Euro 5 compliant 1.8-litre turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine with Stop & Go technology.
