BARCELONA, Spain : Jenson Button has won his fourth Formula One race of the season by taking the Spanish Grand Prix ahead of Brawn GP teammate Rubens Barrichello.

Button’s two-stop strategy proved decisive as he became the ninth straight winner from pole position at the Circuit de Catalunya, even after Barrichello overtook him out of the start.

Barrichello’s extra pit stop allowed Button to make up the difference, and the Briton won by 13 seconds to extend his championship lead over his teammate to 14 points after five races.

Red Bull ‘s Mark Webber finished third ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel, who trails Button by 18 points in third overall.

It shows a small innovation and the regulations interpretation covering the shape and dimensions of the rear diffuser installed on Brawn GP, Toyota and Williams have turned the race more exciting.

To me it is boring to see Ferrari or Williams or Renault teams to win all the time. Congratulations to Button who win 4 races in this season so far; he must be having a hell of fantastic time of his racing life-after having being branded as a ‘paracarro’-roadside post-in F1 racing together with Barrichello who also was not spared with: ‘the driver who almost retired’.

In response to Flavio Briatore’s remarks: “That’s stupid, really,” Barrichello said. “What a comment. If we all think we need Ferrari and McLaren to win, why are the others here?

In an exclusive interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Jenson Button insisted the Brawn GP cars were “100% legal”. “We’re at the pinnacle of motorsport and you’ve got a lot of manufacturers and teams that want to be the best,” he said. “With the massive rule change that we’ve had, some people aren’t going to like certain things on certain cars. “They might think they are wrong but as far was we know our car is 100% legal. We’ve just built a very competitive car. That’s it really.”

The diffuser is an extension of the floor at the back end of a racing car, between the rear wheels. The purpose of a diffuser is to gather and organise the high-speed air rushing under the car. It is crucial to the aerodynamics of the car, and small changes can have a big impact on the amount of downforce – and therefore grip and speed – the car can produce.
