    We would like to share some of the pictures and information regarding Indonesia transportation which includes taxi (taksi), bus, train, trishaw (beca), van, bike, 4wd, cars and the price of petrol or bensin in Indonesia. We have a short visit to Surabaya Indonesia and we have gathered some of interesting facts and info for kdi readers which we will expose on the upcoming other post soon.

    Travelling in Indonesia, Surabaya to be specific, the most efficient way to get around the Surabaya is by using their taxi or taksi services which uses meter system to charge the customer or passenger fairly. Toyota vios is the most widely used sedan car for taxi services. Instead of Toyota Vios, malaysian made car proton Wira and Hyundai are also another type of taxi.

    Vios blue colour, orange or red. Usually the colour of their taxi is blue and white. The blue colour is quite cool on a taxi compare to red or white. Travelling in a vios taxi is quite suffering if there are 4 passenger inside due to the space is smaller than Hyundai and Wira. The front legroom is also short while the width for rear passenger is not comfortable especially in old model vios.

    The rate of taxi service in Indonesia is quite cheap and is based on meter system. The first charge is IDR 5000 Rupiah ( IDR2700 = RM1) which is about RM2. Going around the city usually needs you to pay around IDR20,000 which is around RM7. Don’t use taxi on peak hours 5-6 pm weekdays due to traffic jam if you prefer to use meter system. Above picture is the highway with the largest mosque in Indonesia, Al-Akbar mosque.

    The taxi charges excluding toll fees. The toll fees for their highway is also cheap around IDR 5000 only. But the road condition is quite bad compare to Malaysia highway.

    Most of the vehicle used in Indonesia is sedan type like Vios and MPV or minivan like Toyota Avanza, kijang innova and kijang krista / unser. Picture above is minivan on a car wash hydraulic single actuator platform and a police car which most of it are Mitsubishi model like Lancer and triton.

    A type of minivan, Suzuki and Toyota Avanza / Daihatsu Xenia. To have a comfortable journey, you can have a ride with Avanza 7 seater which is same model with Daihatsu Xenia. Bottom of Picture above is the inside of Avanza and the back of Daihatsu Xenia.

    Another alternative transportation in Indonesia is the trishaw or beca or becak and the train. The beca fee is usually cheaper around IDR 10,000 to get around city.

    Fuel price in Indonesia is around IDR 4500 per liter for RON92 premium and IDR 7300 per litre for RON95 Pertamax Plus. Which is equivalent to RM1.67 for RON92 and RM2.67 for RON95. There is another fuel used in Indonesia which is Biosolar. But most of them are using the Premium RON92 type of Bensin (petrol). BBM is another word of petrol used. Bahan Bakar Mobil. Pertamina is the only Petrol or fuel seller in Surabaya.

    Another type of transportation is the 4wd Jeep to travel to Mount Bromo to see the active volcano on the highest mountain in Indonesia which have the most fantastic scenery and can be said the most beautiful place you can visit. The bus transportation is not very famous among tourist there but you can try it if you have a very tight budget for transport in Indonesia.

    The bikes, with “Jawa” wording on the fuel tank. bikes are the most common and prefered way for transportation by the Indonesian. Easy for them to get around in a very busy city.
