Petaling Jaya, – Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (“Honda Malaysia” or the “Company”) today announced its highest ever monthly sales at 4,586 units in July, 25% higher year-on-year (YOY). As of 31st July, Honda Malaysia has already logged in a total sales of 26,734 units, 11% growth YOY. Currently, the Company has already achieved 69% of its annual target of 40,000 units.

“Sales performance is one of the ways for us to measure our success in a market, which is largely determined by customers’ response and acceptance. We are pleased to learn that ever since we started in Malaysia in 2001, the demand for Honda products has been increasing on a yearly basis, thanks to our loyal customers.” said Mr. Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia.

The monthly sales breakdown suggests that City remains the key driver, which contributed more than 47% with 2,155 units. The other CKD models, Civic, Accord and the facelifted CR-V have, respectively, contributed 1,005 units (22%), 687 units (15%) and 474 units (10%) to the sales in July.

Riding the growth momentum, the Company today revised up its annual sales target from 40,000 units to 44,000 units. The new target represents a 10% increase from the former target, and once achieved, it will represent a 13% growth from 2009’s sales of 38,785 units.

In addition to the positive sales posting, the Company is also pleased to share with the public its recent achievement in the customer service frontier. Honda Malaysia was ranked No. 1 in the 2010 Customer Service Index (CSI) Study by J.D. Power and Associates.

The CSI Study measures new-vehicle owner satisfaction with the after-sales service process by examining dealership performance in five factors. In order of importance, they are: service quality, vehicle pick-up, service initiation, service advisor and service facility. CSI performance is reported as an index score based on a 1,000-point scale. Overall customer satisfaction averages 710 in 2010.

Among the 10 brands included in the study, Honda Malaysia tops the ranking with an overall score of 736 and performs particularly well in service initiation, vehicle pick-up and service quality.

Mr. Toru Takahashi said that, “It is indeed an honour to have such a significant recognition under our belt. We attribute this success to all authorised Honda dealers as well as our associates, who are the key in delivering satisfaction experience to the customers. A strong advocate of customer satisfaction, Honda Malaysia will continue to pledge its commitment to uphold the Company’s Customer Satisfaction No.1 policy.”

Following the series of good news reported today, Honda Malaysia aims to excite the market further with more refined products and services in the near future.
