Ford will launch their new facelift at the next month Geneva Motorshow. The Ford Ranger is built in Thailand and most probably the same model will hit malaysian shore soon enough to compete with the Mitsubishi Triton and Toyota Hilux.
As for Europe, the new model will be launched on april and it will be available
with two turbo diesel engines in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations and three body styles – SingleCab, RAP (Rear Access Panel) Cab and DoubleCab. In design terms, the facelifted European and Asian market pick-up truck is inspired from last year’s Ranger MAX Concept.
Up front, the 2009 Ford Ranger gets a new fascia with an ‘in-your-face’ three-piece chrome grille, domed hood and restyled headlamps. Other changes include the clear tail lamp design, the new exterior mirrors and the side air-vents.
Inside, there are newly designed seats and door panels, as well as new colors and trimmings. The Thai-market Ranger also gets an MP3-compatible stereo for the first time.
The revised Ranger remains unchanged mechanically. The torquey 2.5- and 3.0-liter turbodiesel engines are carried over, with outputs of 145 horsepower and 243 pound-feet, and 156 hp and 280 lb-ft, respectively. Both of the engine can be paired with either a five-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission.According to Ford, the Ranger’s towing capability with either the 2.5-litre or 3.0-litre TDCi Duratorq engine is rated at up to 3,000kg or 6,614-lbs.
