AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY MAIN PLAYER SUPPORTS SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT
SUBANG JAYA, — The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is pleased to see business leaders in the automotive industry supporting its call for sustainable development.
Deputy Secretary-General Aziyah Mohamed said this Thursday at the presentation of ISO14001:2004 certificates to UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd and Assembly Services Sdn Bhd here.
The ISO 14001:2004 is the second edition of the international standard certification issued in 2004.
“The decisions and activities of organisations invariably have an impact on the natural environment, no matter where they are located. Such impact may be associated with the organisation’s use of resources, the generation of pollution and wastes, and the implications for its activities, products and services on natural habitats,” Aziyah said.
“To reduce their enviromental impact, organisations should adopt an integrated approach that takes into consideration the wider economic, social, and environmental implications of their decision and activities,” she said.
Also present at the presentation were UMW Toyota Motor’s executive director of customer services Ismet Suki, Datuk Mariani Mohammad from Sirim QAS International and Jacinta Yap from AJA Global (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
