Rumours around the internet right now said that Air Asia will have their own team in Formula One.Speculation is rife in the pits that low-cost carrier, AirAsia, is interested in taking on the BMW Sauber F1.However Air Asia has stated that their interest in F1 is still AT&T Williams for now and they will continue sponsoring them.In 2007, AirAsia sealed a three-year partnership as AT&T Williams official airline in a bid to strengthen their presence across a different market segment.
If this news is true, there will be two company from Malaysia that will seriously involved in F1 – Petronas and Air Asia.
AirAsia CEO Datuk Tony Fernandes said: “Our interest in F1 is still AT&T Williams. We will continue to sponsor them.”
