Buying a new tyre can become hard and tricky when someone did not know anything about cars. Here are some short tips for you when buying new tyres for your car. Tyre buying guide :
1- survey the market price of tyres in Malaysia or around your area via online searching
2- View some forum review about the tire brand and specific model to avoid buying cheap and low quality tyres
3- Find some shop that sells the type of tyre that you want and compare the price. Get the best deal. The price should include balancing and allignment if necessary. Get the final price.
4- Ask about tyre warranty and receipt.
5- Dont buy china made tyres. And if possible avoid cheapest tyre like Silverstone because it tends to get damaged itself in shorter time. Instead of paying two tyres in 3 years, better get a tyre with not more than 150% expensive but can last longer with better quality and grip for your safety, comfortable and free of mind.
6- Choose a tyre which is made in Malaysia or neighbouring country due to it will suit the weather condition and last longer.
7- Make sure the the tyre has latest manufacturing year. You can see the year 2012 etc on the tyre before the tyre shop personnel install your car tires.
8- Visually check the condition of the tyre. Make sure it is new. Not tayar celup or recondition tyre.
9- Rotation arrow – Make sure they install it correctly by following the rotation arrow sign on the rotation tyre sidewall.
10- Make sure they install all wheel lock nut screws, caps and return the lock nut keys to you before you walk out of the tyre shop (kedai tayar).
11- Ask for receipt and ask the tyre shop owner to put the warranty period on it and sign.
12- If you found that the tyre gives high vibration, go back to the shop and re do the balancing.
