VOLVO TO RECALL 354 VEHICLES ON DEFECTIVE PARTS.
SEOUL, April 22 — Global automaker Volvo will recall a total of 354 vehicles sold in South Korea due to problems with their belt tensioners, Yonhap news agency reported the government as saying Thursday.
Subject to the recall are 342 passenger vehicles of the S80 D5 model and 12 cars of the XC70 D5 model produced in Sweden between August 2006 and May 2008, Yonhap reported, citing the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.
The vehicles’s faulty tensioners could cause engine belts to fail in a worst case scenario, the ministry said.
Owners will be eligible for free repairs from Volvo-affiliated service centres starting Friday, it added.
