Volkswagen cars suitable for you? Yes and No. Yes if you have extra thousands cash to standby for maintenance and No if you plan to buy and drive without taking car of the maintenance.
It is admittedly a very nice car to own and drive due to the continental characteristic of the car and the built quality. However, to get the best out of it, you need to sacrifice a bit on the maintenance because reliability is still an issue among all their cars line up. It is a bit on a high side. But if you have some cash around RM5k-10k in hand any time, you should not be worried.
For example, to replace the worn clutch will cost around RM 2k. For normal servicing will cost around RM 1k. For any mechatronic or gearbox issue will cost few thousands cash. Most of the VW owners advise you to have a 2nd backup car if you plan to buy Volkswagen car either new, pre-owned or used 2nd hand cars.
Now VW Malaysia took some step higher in after sales service by extending warranty of their cars, directly involved in VW owners FB page for feedback, put more effort in solving the current issue on the DSG and Engine.
Maybe this is a good time to buy VW cars since now they offers a very tempting price of VW cars starting from only RM66k for Vento, RM70K for Polo and RM 99K for VW Jetta.
