SHAH ALAM, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd is aiming to sell 95,000 vehicles this year comprising all its models compared with a sales of 93,000 units last year.
Its Director of New Vehicle Sales Group, Harry Loo Chee Yan, said they are confident of reaching their sales target after their best selling model, Vios, sold 20,000 units last year.
This year they expect to sell more than 30,000 units of the Vios.
“Our orders declined after the government announced the fuel price hike recently but the demand for Vios has increased despite the current economic situation,” Loo told reporters at a prize presentation ceremony here today for winners of the Vios 100,000 Celebration Test Drive and Win Contest.
He said the highest demand from customers was for its newly launched Vios J Grade because it is the cheapest Toyota model in the market.
“The total market share for all Toyota models is currently 18 percent compared to 16.7 percent last year,” he said.
Meanwhile, the grand prize winner for the Vios 100,000 Celebration Test Drive and Win Contest was Wel Anak Sami from Miri, Sarawak who won a Toyota Vios 1.5(E) while Tan Kuan Chye from Penang won the second prize which was a holiday package for two, at Club Med Jani Resort, Maldives.
Zalena Abd Razak from Melaka won the third prize, an e-service voucher worth RM3,000. Other consolation prizes such as Panasonic DVD camcorders and pendrives were given out to a total of 1,040 winners.
