TOPMARK EXPECTS TO SELL 11,800 VEHICLES THIS YEAR.
TopMark, a pre-owned vehicles division of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), expects to sell about 11,800 vehicles this year despite the tough market conditions.
UMWT executive director Aminar Rashid Salleh said that 34 percent of the target will be on retail sales while the rest will be sold to used car dealers.
“From this retail target, we aim to sell 1,500 Toyota quality pre-owned vehicles to end users,” he told reporters after TopMark Kuantan’s official opening here today.
TopMark is also targeting to trade in about 11,000 vehicles this year to support the sales of Toyota new vehicles.
Aminar Rashid said for the first five months, 4,000 units vehicles had already been traded in.
He said that UMWT also aimed to double the TopMark network to 14 outlets in five years’ time, including setting up outlets in East Malaysia.
TopMark’s pilot branch was set up in Petaling Jaya in 2000 and now it has seven branches located in Peninsular Malaysia, with a total of 140 staff.
UMWT president Kuah Kock Heng said the company expects to launch its latest hybrid car, the third generation Toyota Prius, in August this year.
“Although there is a small market for hybrid cars at the moment, we believe in future the eco-car trend will rise,” he said.
He also hoped that the government could provide more incentives for hybrid car makers in order to make the vehicles more accessible.
