BMW GROUP LAUNCHES SHORT FILM COMPETITION
The BMW Group today launched the BMW Shorties 2009, the third edition of the company’s annual short film competition, aimed at developing amateur talent within the Malaysian independent film community.
The managing director of the BMW Group, Geoffrey Briscoe, said this year’s grand prize of a production grant remained at RM75,000, enabling the winner to make a professional and creative short film.
“We see an opportunity to provide a platform, which we hope will allow the discovery and recognition of emerging talents in the Malaysian cinematic arts community and help them to venture abroad,” he told reporters at the launching of the BMW Shorties, here today.
The competition was open to aspiring Malaysian filmmakers of 18 years and above, as long as they had never won in any local or international film festival, competition or awards, he said.
The deadline for submission of entries is on June 30.
