Shell Malaysia Allocates RM300,000 For Sustainable Development Grants Programme
Shell Malaysia has allocated RM300,000 under its Sustainable Development Grants Programme to help boost sustainable development projects.
Its country chairman, Datuk Saw Choo Boon, said non-governmental organisations and special-interest groups involved in sustainable development activities could now advance their initiatives via the programme.
“The world will need large amounts of energy in the coming decades to support economic growth and reduce poverty. And this energy will need to be produced in environmentally- and socially-responsible ways including dealing with greenhouse gas emissions,” he told a media briefing after the launch of the programme here Wednesday.
He said the programme aimed to allow qualifying groups in promoting and initiating more sustainable development projects, thereby accelerating Shell Malaysia’s progress towards sustainable development in Malaysia.
Saw urged interested groups or individuals to apply for the grants from today until Dec 1.
“There are two categories — environmental conservation and sustainable livehood.
“This programme will be a long-term initiatives. Shell Malaysia may increase the grants value depending on the response,” he said.
