Have you heard that RON97 is RON95 and RON 95 is RON92? Well, this might make sense. My friend who have relatives that manage a few petrol pump station in Johor gives the confirmation of the statement that ” RON97 is actually an upgraded version of RON95 while RON95 now is the upgraded version of RON92″. This means that the the RON number is upgraded by adding additive. Maybe the specification didn’t meet the requirement of standard actual pure RON95 or RON97.
If we think again, why certain cars have so much different in performance and fuel consumption while the difference of RON number is just “2” from 97 to 95? Maybe it is true that the RON95 is actually a RON 92 which has been added with additive to boost the octane number (octane booster). So the petrol station, government and the oil company have a higher profit instead of less profit by taking pure RON97 and RON95 (or maybe the actual higher RON is produced by using additive to lower RON?). Hmm.. What do you think? Sorry if i am wrong but this is the actual info from the manager of petrol pump itself.
