The WWW1 WILL BE FITTED TO A NATIONAL CAR! – according to Sultan Ibrahim
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has raked in a record RM12mil in sales for the highly coveted WWW vehicle registration series.
Its director-general, Datuk Solah Mat Hassan, said the other “golden” or most wanted number plate series only brought in between RM1mil and RM2mil in sales previously.
“We are anticipating that the WYY and PKR number plate series to have the same number of bids as the WWW series,” he said after closing the One Community One JPJ programme here yesterday.
It was reported recently that the Sultan of Johor was the proud owner of the much sought-after WWW 1 number plate with a winning bid of RM520,000.
The registration number WWW 1 owned by the Sultan of Johor will be fitted onto a national car.
Sources said Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar, who paid RM520,000 of his own money, insisted he wanted the number fixed to a national car.
They said Sultan Ibrahim had bought a car several months ago but had yet to take possession of it.
They said he had preferred the car and the manufacturer was in the process of customising the vehicle for him.
The car is expected to be delivered within the next week.
It was reported recently that the Sultan was the proud owner of the much sought-after WWW 1 number plate with a winning bid of RM520,000.
The Road Transport Department’s website, www.jpj.gov.my, listed “D.Y.M.M. Sultan Ibrahim Johor” as having outbid 9,998 others for the coveted plate.
This is the highest ever paid for a single number, beating the previous record for MCA 1, which was sold for RM300,100 two years ago.
Sultan Ibrahim is known for his love of sports cars and high-powered motorcycles.
He already owns several other coveted numbers, including JJJ 1, JJ 1 and JJ 2 for cars driven by him and members of the royal family.
This surpassed the record set by “MCA 1”, which was sold for RM300,100.
The department’s website listed “D.Y.M.M. Sultan Ibrahim Johor” as having outbid 9,998 others for the coveted plate.
It also listed “D.Y.M.M. Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong” for WWW 5 with a winning bid of RM220,000.
On another matter, Solah said the department would organise a programme which would allow the public to take their test for a P licence for motorcycles in every state.
Previously, motorcyclists had to sit for their tests in driving schools.
“We want to tell the public not to be scared of us and we want everyone, especially the younger generation, to have a proper licence when they are using the roads,” he said.
He also noted that the programme was to give a chance to the lower income group to get a P licence for only a RM150 fee.
