We have made a few test drive session on the New Perodua Alza MPV 7 seater before this on different tracks and now we would like to share our experience and gather all Alza owners experience driving the compact MPV. The transmission of Perodua Alza test drive model is automatic. Driving Perodua Alza is different with other perodua model like Myvi and Viva because it has more stability due to it’s wider width.
REVIEW PERODUA ALZA – TEST DRIVE
Getting into the alza, for sure you will feel more spacious than myvi but not as huge as Exora. Anyway, it is enough for a compact MPV which brings average body size family. Sitting at the third row also quite comfortable if you want to compare with Naza Citra with lesser legroom. It is not a very big deal for a big person to sit at the third row but on the long journey, you might feel tired sitting there due to the low height of third row seat. The special thing is the second row seat can be slided fore and aft. So you can adjust the space very well. The rear boot space is too small. Very limited item can be put there.
Talking about the performance, sorry to say, it is quite disappointing that the perodua Alza 1.5 litre engine is really lack of throttle response, pickup and overall performance. The throttle paddle for automatic transmission just have small range of movement from slow to fast which is quite hard to determine desired speed when you press the paddle. People like to compare alza vs exora comparison. So to compare both performance, exora has better acceleration and response amazingly even the exora have bigger chasis with 1.6 litre campro cps.
According to the sales person, the engine used in Alza is from Toyota Rush but it has been modified which involved the valve adjustment. We are testing with only 3 person on board but we really cannot feel the power even if you are pressing the paddle hard to the end, the pickup really disappoint us. We thought that the light weight MPV has a better response than Exora but it is not unfortunately.
The fuel consumption of Perodua Alza is around RM0.18 km/litre for mixed driving condition which is a bit more than myvi Auto fuel consumption at RM0.17 km/litre for average use. So it is quite good when you can carry more people inside with that amount of fuel used.
Looking at the alza on the road now, the front really looks good especially the white colour alza but the rear design is quite similar to Viva except it is larger.
Driving experience at higher speed, the wind noise can be detected at 80kmh. According to the sales person, it is due to bigger and not perfect aerodynamic design of side mirror. That is the main complaint among alza owners he said. But the cabin noise insulation is quite good except the wind noise at high speed. The engine produce less noise and has smoother sound.
Picture : alza bodykit passo sette. Might be a famous choice bodykit for alza
