PROTON WILL SPEND RM 7 MILLION ON PROTON CAR FREE SEATBELT INSTALLATION
Proton Holdings Bhd will spend RM7 million to retrofit rear centre lap seatbelts for about 226,000 units of Saga and Gen2 models manufactured between 2004 and 2008.
About 144,000 units of Saga and 81,930 units of Gen2 model would be involved in the retrofitting exercise, to be carried out within 13 months, said managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.
“For Peninsular Malaysia, the exercise started on Dec 1, while for Sabah and Sarawak, it will begin on Jan 1 next year,” he said.
According to Syed, Proton will retrofit the seatbelts for free at all 380 Proton Edar and EON Bhd Service branches nationwide.
