    Last time we give you some informations about Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart which is the largest automotive museum in the world. Now we want to share about Porsche Museum, also in Stuttgart, Germany.

    The new €100 million Porsche Museum will be opened to the public from January 31, 2009, at 9.00a.m. Compare to old museum new Porsche Museum contain of three main areas – workshop , exhibition and achieve.

    Porsche Museum is one of the greatest and most spectacular building projects in the history of the sports carmaker.

    The new museum showcases vehicles dating back more than a century and is expected to greet up to 200,000 visitors per year.

    About 80 vehicles are on display in the 5,600 square metre (60,250 square feet) Exhibition Area styled by Viennese architectural firm Delugan Meissl, ranging from the legendary wheel hub motor of the Lohner-Porsche, the world’s first hybrid automobile built as far back as in 1900, all the way to the latest generation of the Porsche 911. The actual Exhibition Area is made up of a steel structure resting on just three concrete cores and appearing to hover in space, covering a span of up to 60m.

    “This is our new business card on the Porscheplatz,” said Porsche chairman Wendelin Wiedeking. “We will not only use the museum as an exhibition, but also as a communication platform – as a permanent, integral part of the ongoing dialogue which Porsche conducts with the public.”

    SOME INFORMATIONS ABOUT PORSCHE MUSEUM

    The new museum building covering 24,000 square meters, which was designed by the Viennese architects Delugan Meissl, also houses the Porsche archives and a special workshop for historic vehicles. The workshop, which is home to the 300 vintage cars from the Porsche depot, can also be used by private customers who want to restore or service their valuable vehicles.The museum will also boast a coffee bar, a museum restaurant and conference area, and an exclusive restaurant operated independently of the museum.

    Some of the more important vehicles on show include a re-built 1939 Type 64, a car acknowledged as the “original Porsche”, the iconic 1950 Volkswagen Beetle, the 1948 Porsche 356 “No 1” Roadster, a 1956 Porsche 550 A Spyder, and the more recent Porsche 959 and Carrera GT.

    1. when the spring vacation necessarily lie in Stuttgart to visit the museum. Always wanted to see every generation 911 series.

      entrance fee is 4€ for student with any valid student card. 8€ for adult.
      1 word. SUPERB! a superb museum… unlike other car museum, most of the cars werent on d plateform with barriers etc..
      Porsche museum souvenirs are well priced.

      dont forget to visit Mercedes Museum as well..=)
