The new McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a new, McLaren-designed 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 developing 447kW and 600Nm of torque.And 80 percent of that torque is available from below 2000rpm.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission – which McLaren calls ‘Seamless Shift’ .McLaren will build 1,000 units of the MP4-12C annually at a new factory at the same site the group builds its F1 cars.
The capabilities of the new McLaren to accelerate from 0km/h to 100km/h still not be reveiled yet.
The chassis of the new McLaren is constructed from a carbon monocoque shell or a ‘Carbon Monocell’ as McLaren calls it.It is developed specific for optimum strength, rigidity and light weight.
When the new Mclaren launched in 2011, the price will be higher than Ferrari and Lamborghini.
