NEW COMMERCIAL AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURES – CARA PEMERIKSAAN KENDERAAN BARU

Puspakom will soon introduce vehicle inspection procedures which are more effective and concise to provide more efficient services to customers, said Road Transport Department (RTD) director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan.

He said the new procedures would among others see some parts of the commercial and public vehicles inspection process of being reduced to about 90 matters only.

“We are reviewing the inspection procedures by Puspakom. I expect the new standard operating procedures to be out in two weeks,” he told reporters after the launch of the RTD Integrity Plan by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Kiat here Monday.

Solah said the new procedures were intended to reduce bureaucratic redtape and speeden up the inspection process without compromising vehicle safety and comfort.

“We have received much feedback from operators of public and commercial vehicles and they feel there were too many items to the inspection and some were not relevant,” he said.

Solah said Puspakom would provide some leeway in the inspection process that would not affect safety and comfort.

“For example, if a window is cracked, the owner can return for inspection later (after repairs) so that it would not affect his business which depends on his vehicle,” he said.
