MITSUBISHI EYEING 25 PER CENT SHARE IN MALAYSIA’S SUV MARKET.
MIRI, April 22 — Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is confident of capturing 25 per cent share in the country’s sport utility vehicle (SUV) market this year.
This follows the launch of the Pajero Sport GL, a new variant from the company’s Pajero Sport GS.
The Pajero Sport GL would attract a new segment of urban buyers, Chief Executive Officer Keizo Ono told reporters at a dinner after Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai launched the vehicle here last night on behalf of Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan.
“When we launched the Pajero Sport GS last year, we managed to get 18.5 per cent of the market. And with this new version, we wish to get more,” he said.
He said Mitsubishi was also looking forward to launch two new SUV models by the second half of this year which would further boost its position in the market.
The new models would cater for a wider group of users, he said, refusing to divulge their specific details.
