Malaysian Vehicle Sales Up 49.3 Percent For April 2008
Malaysian total vehicle sales increased 49.3 percent or 16,600 units to 50,279 units for April 2008 compared to a year ago due to good market sentiment and improved Proton sales, the Malaysian Automotive Association said.
The trade body said in a statement that the sales volume for April this year alone was 8.3 percent or 3,843 units higher than previous month.
Passenger car sales for April 2008 increased to 45,234 units from 30,204 units in the previous month while commercial vehicle sales rose to 5,045 units from 3,475 units.
In the January-April 2008 period, passenger vehicle sales increased to 165,485 units from 125,840 units in the previous corresponding period while commercial vehicle sales went up to 15,568 units from 10,523 units, the association said.
Passenger vehicle production increased to 38,577 units for April 2008 from 31,213 units in the previous month while commercial vehicle production rose to 3,758 units from 2,616 units.
From January to April this year, passenger vehicle production climbed to 159,421 units from 114,239 units in the previous corresponding period while commercial vehicle production rose to 175,079 units from 125,952 units.
