MALAYSIAN KIA TECHNICIAN PICKED FOR REGIONAL SKILL WORLD CUP.
ALOR SETAR, — A Malaysian is among the six technicians from vehicle manufacturer Kia Motors, to represent the Asia Pacific region at the Regional Skill World Cup in Seoul, South Korea next year.
Mohd Taza Rizal Abd Razak bagged a bronze medal at the regional qualifying competition in vehicle technical competency, held at the Naza Academy in Gurun Thursday.
The others selected from the competition is Singaporean Yap Chee Wan who won the gold medal and silver medal winners, Richard Losala of Brunei and Nelson Velasquez, also from Singapore.
The two others, Dede Hardiano (Indonesia) and Edward Presto (the Philippines) like Mohd Taza, won bronze medals.
Kia Motors Asian region director, Sae Min Kim, said the competition challenged the ability of the company’s technicians and improved their quality of work.
“At the competition in Seoul, the Asia Pacific representatives will compete against 60 others from various other regions in the world,” he said after presenting prizes to the winners.
Meanwhile, for Taza Rizal,32, from Johor Bahru, it is the first time he will be participating in the Skill World Cup competition.
He said that he was proud to have been selected and would use the oportunity to improve his skills at work.
A total of 11 participants from Malaysia,Indonesia,Brunei, the Philippines, Thailand,Singapore and Vietnam, participated in the competition in Gurun.
