KDI : Sound system is a very subjective matter in car modification now due to too many non original parts of audio component which has been stamped with good brand such as Sony.
LET’S DISCUSS ABOUT TIPS OF GOOD SOUND SYSTEM + SPEAKERS BRAND
So here I hope we can share our audio system modification experience to determine which one is good for your needs in terms of in car entertainment.
Basically, Audio system consist of Component speakers for the front door panel, 2 or 3 ways speaker on the rear board, 6″ to 12″ woofer in the bonnet, 4 channel amplifier for 4 speakers, 1 amplifier for woofer, audio cable wiring kit, fuse and an optional capacitor. Not to forget a head unit CD player
Firstly, suit your needs with your budget. Usually, for in car entertainment, you can use any average brand for speakers and woofer with high wattage.
But if you target to shoot louder outside of the car, this is where it is getting more complicated.
Choosing a right brand is not the only thing when you want a good audio system. According to audio system specialists, the location of speakers and woofers and how you mount it on a very good material is also important. Some of the speakers have higher watt performance but it simply beaten up by a normal speakers with good location and how they mount the speakers.
There are so many factors contribute to a good sound system. Most important, make sure you calculate the power needed for all speakers and ensure it has enough power supplied by the amplifier so that the sound is clear and no annoying noise came out from the speakers.
So guys, lets discuss the tips to make a good sound system with best speakers in your car!
Another very important, often overlooked component, is the electrical system supplying the juice to your new stereo. Your car/truck’s stock alternator is probably about 45 – 60 amps, give or take. Those amps are what is needed for your car, plus 10-15%, for things such as: headlights, turn signals, horn, charging battery, power seats, power windows, wipers, ABS and the list goes on and on. Swapping out a stock CD player for another one isn’t going to make much of a difference, but installing a new stereo to include a larger than stock amplifier or amplifiers could quickly starve your electrical system of power. Ever seen headlights dim when the bass drum hits? I can’t count the number of car stereos I have crushed simply because the owner failed to take take his electrical system into account. Four DVC 15’s and 800 watts won’t do much when the alternator is only capable of supplying 45 amps to the car.
The math… (considering 85% efficiency and 14 volts using I = P/V) is 800 * .85 = 680 watts / 14 volts = 50 amps for ONE amplifier, 100 amps for two PLUS the 45 needed for the car gives a rough estimate of a 145 amp output alternator. And real quick, let’s touch on batteries. Multiple batteries will only let you listen to your stereo longer with the car turned off. They DO NOT take the place of a good, aftermarket alternator.
