We are currently running a car sound insulation or noise deadening and initially wants to get a decibel dB sound level meter which costs around RM70 but luckily, android apps save some of the money.
We use sound meter pro apps to measure the cabin noise level. The best part of this apps is it has accurate measurement up to 91 dB compared to others that only captured noise until 85 dB.

There is another display mode which shows you the noise bar and the similar noise level benchmark.
We managed to seal our car at below 16dB with soundproof mat and seal. The engine idle is around 50dB. On the road noise still not too low at 70-80dB. We will work out more insulation to get better noise value.
