Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello at Australian Grand Prix
HOW MANY RACES WILL BRAWN GP WIN IN THIS 2009 FORMULA ONE SEASON?
After stunned the Formula 1 community with its one-two finish in the 2009 curtain-raising Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Brawn GP win again at the 2009 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix with Jenson Button finished 1st. Jenson Button won a shortened 31 lap Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix on a day when heavy rain forced the race to be halted well ahead of the scheduled 56 laps.
Many of Formula 1 fan said that Brawn GP will win the next race. But how many races will Brawn GP continue to win?
I think Brawn GP will dominate the race up to Budapest or Valencia as the seven other teams who have lost out will redesign the rear ends (diffuser) of their cars to try and compete on an equal footing for the rest of the 2009 campaign.
But this (redesigning) is extremely difficult as from 2009 onwards testing is not allowed during the race season (from the week prior to the first Grand Prix until December 31) and is limited to 15,000 kilometres. Any new design will have to be tested for reliabilty.
Because of this I think it will be enough for Brawn GP to win the constructor title this year with Button as world champion. This is because after Budapest, any finishes to 8th placing score points and judging from the current form Brawn has, it will not finish anything below 4th place.
The only threat will be from RBR-Renault 2nd place or Toyota 3rd place in the constructor standings.
Ferrari were the most improved team in Spain, both in qualifying and the race, but were unfortunate to finish sixth due to a malfunction either with the refuelling rig or the car short-changed him on fuel in his first stop. Massa has already abandon his and Ferrari’s hope of winning the championship this year. McLaren Mercedes however still have Hamilton the defending world champion, but currently they haven’t have solve the car set up problem.
