HONDA MALAYSIA SLASHES PRICE FOR CIVIC HYBRID
Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has introduced an enhanced version of the Civic Hybrid with a cheaper price tag today.
The new Civic Hybrid is priced at RM129 980, which is 20 percent lower than the previous pricing, taking into consideration the tax incentives for hybrid vehicles as announced in Budget 2009, the company said.
In a statement today, Honda Malaysia said it was targeting to sell 300 units of the car this year.
“With the current global economic uncertainty and rising cost of living, consumers are more sensitive towards the volatility of fuel prices,” said managing director and chief executive officer Atsushi Fujimoto.
“There is also the urgency worldwide to promote advanced environmental technologies that are fuel-efficient with lower emissions in order to decelerate climate change. Being a car manufacturer, it is our responsibility to preserve the environment and to leave behind minimal environment footprint,” he said.
The hybrid system in the Civic Hybrid draws its power from an engine assisted by an electronic motor which has been made more compact and efficient, the company said.
Since its introduction, the Civic Hybrid had received good demand globally with accumulative sales of more than 250,000 units.
