HONDA CIVIC HYBRID will now sell between RM125,000 and RM130,000 after the 100 per cent import duty and 50 per cent excise duty exemptions on new hybrid CBU vehicles announced in Budget 2009. Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd said it had revised its sales target for the Civic Hybrid because of the new price. The car originally sells at more than RM160,000. “We are increasing our sales target for the Civic Hybrid to 30 units per month from the original target of five units per month,” Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Atsushi Fujimoto said in a statement yesterday. The actual price can only be fixed in February when the first batch of the Civic Hybrid arrives in Malaysia, Fujimoto added. “Globally, there has been overwhelming demand for the Civic Hybrid and Honda is currently facing a shortage of supply to meet the increased demand. Customers who have placed orders for the Civic Hybrid can expect to receive their cars by February 2009,” he said.
