Perodua Kancil was Perodua’s first car after its founding in 1993.It was a city car manufactured by the Perodua from 1994 to 2009.The Kancil was based on Daihatsu Mira and been modify through badge engineering.Perodua Kancil is a small five-door hatchback vehicle on a monocoque framework that could seat five people.
Following its release in 1994, the Kancil became an instant success in Malaysia.Perodua sold its first 50,000 units in its first year of production, and reached sales of 100,000 units in 1997 despite the Asian financial crisis. On average, Perodua sold about 4,000 units of Kancil monthly, and in October 2002, the unit had its highest single monthly sales of 7,700 units.Although Perodua had stopped the production of Perodua Kancil, they still committed to to continuing the supply of its service parts to customers for the many years to come.
