Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov end the FP1 and FP2 of the European Grand Prix in Valencia with top ten finished.In FP2, Nick Heidfeld was the first man to try the softer rubber with 40 minutes to go, the Renault driver making a 1.5-second improvement over his time with the medium tyres, moving to first place by nearly seven tenths of a second.
Heidfeld’s moment in the sun last just a couple of minutes, however, as Webber also put on a set of soft tyres to post a 1m38.531s to go quickest ahead of Nico Rosberg, also on softs. Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov followed up their strong FP1 timings with top ten finishes during the second practice session at the European Grand Prix in Valencia today.
Both drivers trialed the Pirelli medium and soft compounds. Whilst on the soft compound, Nick managed to secure a best time of 1.39.040 leaving him in P9 whilst Vitaly clocked in with a 1.39.586 leaving him one place behind in P10.
Fernando Alonso, meanwhile, set the fastest time of the afternoon with a 1.37.968. Lewis Hamilton finished in P2 whilst Championship leader Sebastian Vettel was third fastest.
