DISCOUNTS, REBATES FROM 22 HIGHWAY CONCESSIONAIRES FOR X’MAS, NEW YEAR
KAJANG: All 22 highway concessionaires will be giving between five and 37% discounts on toll in the form of cash, with two of them giving rebates as well, from Wednesday until Dec 31, in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This is a continuation of their corporate social responsibility programme to help provide added value service and in appreciation of the road users, Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Ismail Md Salleh said Wednesday.
“The concessionaires have agreed to bear the cost of RM1mil for the discount incentive and we hope road users will use it wisely,” he told reporters here.
Some concessionaires will give the discount between midnight and 7am to encourage use of the highway during that period and thereby reduce congestion during the day, he said.
The roads involved include the North-South Expressway, the North-South Expressway Central Link, Seremban-Port Dickson Highway, Sprint Expressway, Shah Alam Expressway, Duta Ulu Kelang Expressway, Cheras-Kajang Expressway and Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway.
The other roads involved are Guthrie Corridor Expressway, Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway, Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Highway, SMART tunnel, Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway, New North Klang Straits Bypass, Metramac Highway, New Pantai Expressway, Sungai Besi Expressway, Kajang-Seremban Highway and South Klang Valley Expressway.
Ismail said the highway authority had also taken precautionary measures to face unusual road congestions, accidents and landslides.
The steps include providing 15 to 17 additional tow trucks at strategic locations and increasing the number of staff by 20% to cope with any eventuality requiring a swift response, he said.
