Brooklands Motors got off to a fresh start as it made a triple reveal.

It launched the new Citroen C4 at its new 3S Centre and headquarters along the Federal Highway here. The Citroen and Ssangyong distributor also gave a media preview of the DS4, which is slated for launch in February.

The new C4 is powered by a Peugeot and BMW co-developed 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 156bhp at 5,800rpm and 240Nm of torque available from a lowly 1,400rpm.

Top speed is rated at 212kph and the 0-100kph sprint is attained in 9.6 seconds. The fuel consumption is frugal at 6.4 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions is 148 grams per kilometre.

The car, available only in Exclusive trim, features dual climate control that carries on working eight minutes after the engine is switched off.

The blue instrument cluster has an attractive look that combines both analogue and digital display readouts.

It has a gearshift lever that looks unusually small; the car also has pedal shifters to row through the six-speed electronic gearbox system, which is an automated manual transmission.

Lending a sense of space to the cabin is a huge panoromic sunroof that extends nearly all the way to the rear.

The independent and well-regarded Euro NCAP agency has declared it to be a very safe car, awarding it 5 stars for safety.

Among others, the C4 has a blind spot monitoring system and ESP with intelligent traction control.

Other conveniences on board include cruise control, four sound themes for driver warnings, auto headlight illumination and a rechargeable torch and 12 volt socket in the boot.

Brookslands Motors offers a RM7,000 upgrade package that includes full leather upholstery, massage seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and tyres as well as bi-xenon headlamps.

The Citroen brochure lists the fully imported C4 hatch as available with a choice of nine body colours that comprise three shades of grey, white, black, red, brown, beige and blue.

The C4 is priced at RM125,990 (OTR excluding insurance) and comes with a factory-backed three years or 100,000km warranty.

The Citroën DS4 drew more than its fair share of media attention on Friday night, combining coupé style with 2+2 door practicality.

The DS4 – based on the C4 – represents a model in Citroen’s DS luxury line, showing more dramatic styling and chrome.

Like the C4, the DS4 uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged Peugeot/BMW engine but in two states of tune: the THP 155 and THP 200.

The THP 155, mated to an EGS six-speed gearbox, offers the same performance as that of the C4 while the THP 200, with a six-speed manual gearbox, is the same engine boosted to 202bhp at 5,800rpm and 275Nm at 1,700rpm.

The THP 200 has a top speed of 235kph.

The DS4’s rear door handles are integrated into the window frame, an idea first made popular by Alfa Romeo.

Like it or not, Citroen has decided to make the rear glass windows fixed, so they can’t be rolled down.

The DS4’s cabin is dominated by the large panoramic windscreen that extends backwards into the roofline, offering up to 45° of upward vision

While the C4 has 408l of boot space, the DS4 gets a smaller volume at 370l.

As part of the DS4 experience, drivers can select their own on-board ambience from four ranges of polyphonic sounds for alerts and reminders; select from three air-conditioning flow levels; and choose from an array of colours for the instrument panel – such as white and blue.

The DS4 is expected to be priced at around RM155,000 when it arrives in Malaysia early next year.

After years of being based in Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur, Brooklands Motors relocated to its present site here facing the Federal Highway.

The new double-storey headquarters is bigger and in a more prominent location. It boasts a 55,000 sq ft built up area and a total 16,000 sq ft of showroom space spread over the two floors.

Thirty cars can be displayed at a time.

The centre has lounge areas on both floors for customers who can enjoy free WiFi access and beverages.
