You might experience a drop in car performance. Why? This may be due to dirty deposits formation on your car throttle body for EFI car and carburetor for non EFI car. usually this happens for car using non standard high flow air filters which did not managed to filter the air properly like open pod air filter. However, the standard air filter also have a chance to get the dirty deposit over time.
So, to make sure you have optimum performance, check your throttle body or carburetor just after the connection of air filter to the engine. If it is dirty with black deposits, buy a carburetor or throttle body cleaner in spray can which costs around RM20 and start to clean it. It is quite easy that you can also do it yourself in few minutes.
CAR PERFORMANCE DROP? CLEAN THROTTLE BODY / CARBURETOR
While throttle-body cleaning is good preventative maintenance, it should also help engine drivability. In fact, if you’ve noticed a rough idle, stumbling initial acceleration or even stalling – all when the engine is fully warmed up – a dirty throttle body could be the culprit. Once you look inside a throttle body, you will probably be surprised at the dirt, gum and varnish that have accumulated there over time.
How to clean Throttle body or carburetor?
1- Park your vehicle outside in a well-lighted, level area. Because the throttle-body cleaners are volatile, we do not recommend doing this job indoors.
2- Locate the throttle body under the hood in the engine compartment. Here are some hints on what to look for:
The throttle body is located between the air cleaner and the intake manifold of the engine.
Most throttle bodies are made of aluminum.
3- Disconnect air filter hose from the throttle body.
4- Read manual provided at the spray can. Usually it needs you to start your engine and spraying the throttle body slowly press a 1 second and stop a few seconds until the metal part free from dirt.
5- connect the air filter hose back to the throttle body.
