What is your favourite colour for your car? Which type do you prefer? Solid / Metallic / air brush / matte / tone / multicolour? Car painting will cost around RM1000-Rm1500 for exterior only and around RM1500-RM2000 including interior. That is for normal colour paint. The rare / special type of paint will costs up to Rm10,000! You most probably never think to repaint your car but when your car getting older, the colour slowly becomes fade and not as beautiful as new especially after more than 5 years and when your car is parked under direct sunlight.

Usually, to paint a small part such as bumper, skirting, spoiler and hood will cost around RM150 to RM200 (harga cat). Some place offer cheaper price at RM100 only per small part painting. the cost of painting a car depends on the quality and type of paint they use. So it is important to look at how they work on it, the sample of work they did. It is better if the car painter have their own painting oven. To control the environment to have better finishing on your car.

Normally, rare types of paint like chrome and multi colour paint are not permitted in Malaysia.

Multicolour type of paint.

Full Airbrush paint on fairlady 350z. looks nice.. but once scratch on it will cause headache of the owner.

 matte type of paint. Matte black colour makes the car looks fierce and sporty. But it has some disadvantages. Easy to trap dust and dirt on the surface which makes the colour looks like fading. At night, the matte black colour completely absorb all source of light and makes other driver hard to see them especially from side and when you have no light at night.

Changing car colour basically require you to register and approved by JPJ. (Tukar warna kereta perlu kelulusan JPJ) . The procedure is just do the painting first then bring all your car document to JPJ for colour change registration. It is quite a simple process with reasonable fee.
