AUTOMOTIVE TRADE FAIR MARCH 25-28
Automechanika Malaysia, the biennial international trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and service suppliers is expected to be a timely support for industry players amid the current economic situation, said Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) deputy chief executive officer, Mohamad Kamarudin Hassan.
MATRADE will be organising an Incoming Buying Mission (IBM) involving 35 prospective buyers from abroad to participate in the fair to be held from March 25 to 28 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) here.
“A series of 345 meetings have been scheduled between these foreign buyers with more than 60 local companies to generate interest among them,” said Kamarudin.
He added that most of the industry players had felt the effects of the current economic situation and the fair will be timely as it would give the industry players the opportunity to share information and create new business deals.
Automechanika Malaysia also provides a value-added programme for industry players to keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in the industry.
Last year, the automotive parts sector had generated about RM2 billion in revenue from exports, an increase of five percent compared to 2007.
The fair, organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd in collaboration with MATRADE, will bring together over 130 exhibitors from the automotive parts and repair equipment industry from 14 countries including China, France, Germany, Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia.
“By organising this fair, we aim to establish a platform for the industry to share key information and to create a healthy competition environment among the players involved,” said Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd general manager Jason Cao.
In conjunction with the fair, the Federation of Automobile Workshop Owners’ Association of Malaysia (FAWOAM) will also hold its annual convention at the venue.
About 5,000 trade visitors including 35 percent international visitors are expected to participate in the 4-day event.
