ALISTER McRAE JOINS PROTON FOR RALLY INDONESIA 2009.
In some exciting developments, Proton has confirmed today that they will field the Satria Neo Super 2000 with an all new crew, including Alister McRae and Bill Hayes in the next round of the Asian Pacific Rally Championship(APRC) on 3-4 October in Makassar, Indonesia.
Rally Indonesia will be the 6th round of the APRC but only the 2nd rally for the PROTON R3 Malaysia team in this region.
With over 20 years of rally experience, Alister – whose family name is synonymous with rallying – has competed in major rallies around the world, including a stint in the World Rally Championship.
His recent achievements include a class win in the famous Targa Tasmania 2008 in Australia.
“I have had the opportunity to test the Satria Neo S2000 in the UK recently and am very pleased with the performance of the car,” he said. “I will certainly be looking forward to competing in the Proton at the Rally of Indonesia against some of the best drivers in the region.”
While pretty much still in its development stages, the Proton Satria Neo has already gained much attention in its short career in International Rallying, with notable results in the World Championships as well as the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
