  • PETROL, DIESEL PRICES DOWN 10 SEN TOMORROW, 7TH REDUCTION SINCE AUGUST

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 (Bernama) — Petrol and diesel prices have been reduced by 10 sen a litre from Tuesday. In announcing the reduction today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the RON97 petrol will be sold at RM1.80 a litre from RM1.90 and RON92 petrol at RM1.70 from RM1.80.

Diesel will be sold at RM1.70 a litre from RM1.80, he said in a statement today. This is the seventh time the government has lowered fuel prices since August. The last revision was on Dec 3.

The fuel price cut was in tandem with the dwindling crude oil price in the world market. Also effective tomorrow, the price of subsidised petrol and diesel for fishermen has been slashed by 13 sen a litre to RM1.30 from RM1.43, he added.

Yes, we all are thankful to PM for reducing the price of petrol again and we all look forward to more reduction in petrol prices in future. The reason put forward in this latest reduction was due to cut in world crude oil prices. I agree this is true and hats off to Pak Lah for that, however I’m sure very sure there’s another reason behind it albeit more sinister reason, which the PM and the BN government don’t want us Malaysians to know.

That reason is that they lost their 2/3 majority in parliament and thus they have to take us voters more seriously than before and to prevent the opposition in using cutting petrol prices as a bait to support them and topple the BN government.

My fellow Malaysians, can you all now see it’s of utmost important not to give any political party a landslide victory in any general election in future? If we only give the winner party a slim majority, this will force them to be on their toes all the time and to treat and listen to our grouses more seriously. If we let any party win a landslide, the temptation is always there for them to be corrupt and tyrannical, after all, the electorate will still give us a landslide win next time, why should they care about our wellfare?
